…For Creativity!

This is the first Easter I get to color eggs as a mom, so I’ve been really looking forward to it all week!  We plan on doing the traditional dyed eggs but I’ve also got some other ideas up my sleeve.  Check out the collection I’ve pinned up for inspiration this weekend!

Color Inspiration: Orchid Hush…

February 19, 2011

…With Denise, of Bellis Studios!

You might remember that last post where I mentioned Pantone released their Fall 2011 Fashion Color Report. I told you I’d have inspiration for weeks!  My eye went right to Orchid Hush.

It quietly called to me!

When you come across a color you just love and want to build a color palette around it, it’s helpful to refer to a color wheel.  Locate your starting color on the wheel.  Orchid Hush is a tint, it has quite a bit of white in it.  It’s located near the center of the wheel.

You can look directly across the wheel to find your colors complement.  Complementary colors tend to have a lot of contrast when placed next to each other.  In this case, a pale yellow would be my complement and would work great with Orchid Hush!

I decided to push it a little further and see what other color combos I could come up with.

A triad color relationship is when three hues are equally positioned on the color wheel.

An analogous color relationship is when colors are located adjacent to each other on the color wheel.

A monochromatic color relationship is when colors are the same shade or tint variations of the same hue.

Choosing your colors based on their relationship to each other on the color wheel will guarantee harmony.  Isn’t harmony what we want in all of our relationships?!

Dear Spring, Please Hurry…

January 29, 2011

…Kick Winter’s Ass Off The Radar!

Yes, I said ass. Sorry but I can’t help it, it’s the correct word for winter. Winter is being an ass right now and it needs to go away. Spring needs to giddy on up so I can take my daughter for stroller walks again and show her more trees, butterflies, clouds and nature! Speaking of nature, don’t you just love these?

Oooh, I really like the lemon yellow ones too!

DIY Gift Tag Garland

January 18, 2011

…An Easy Decor Idea For Your Big Day!

Just imagine…whimsical tags hung delicately with string, dancing and twirling above you as you sip your champagne. I wonder, could you find a way to turn these gift tag displays into lovely garland to hang? I bet you could!

Buy or make your own tags and attach them with string in the length you prefer. Use paper clips to hang your tags from string hung from the ceiling. Use your new garland to pretty up a doorway, a wall or even tree branches!

Maybe even create a mobile-type fixture to hang above your tables using tags. Not a fan of the paper clip? Try these stylish pegs to hang your garland, or paint your own…

Get Your Man A Cave…

January 18, 2011

…He’ll Love It.

Okay ladies, what’s fair is fair! When it comes to your home, sharing is caring and that includes space for your man. After all, you know you’re going to take over that closet (if you haven’t already). Get your groom the gift of room and a sign that points to it. He’ll love it. We think… ;)

What is a “man cave, you ask? Here’s the man cave definition at this Etsy shop:

MAN CAVE – A room, space, corner or area of a dwelling that is specifically reserved for a male person to be in a solitary condition, away from the rest of the household in order to work, play, involve himself in certain hobbies, activities without interuption. This area is usually decorated by the male that uses it without interferance from any female influence.ManCaveSigns on Etsy

While you’re at it, why not get him some man cave gear to go with this charming little space? Uh oh. What’s wrong ladies, feeling left out? Buy yourself some sexy cave woman lingerie for your happily ever after, then later hang in YOUR closet. ;) Love!
