Gift To The Grands…

…Grandparents Need Something Special, You Know?

Nobody can tell a love story better than a couple who has been together for over 50 years. Want a way to honor your grandparents for your wedding day? Check out this totally sentimental and freaking awesome gift idea from UncommonGoods.com

(Photo credit: Grandparents journal from www.uncommongoods.com)

So how does it work? Do you really expect them to fill this sucker out themselves, with arthritis and all? No, of course not! Rather, with the time leading up to the big day, you need to do what they’ll love most – visit them. Call them. Spend time with them! Interview them, asking questions from the book, take notes and later surprise them with this lovely book!

“Features prompts such as ‘Where I grew up,’ ‘Favorite Family Traditions,’ ‘What I did for fun,’ ‘My least favorite job,’ ‘My favorite ice cream flavor’ and ‘A place I would like to visit.’ With space to write a short response to each question and two pages dedicated to holding favorite photos, this is a great way to get a glimpse into a grandparent’s life, and hopefully spark additional conversations.” – UncommonGoods.com

Down the road, after you have your own kids, they’ll have a special keepsake to read about their great grandparents and so will you. Grab a copy by clicking HERE. Enjoy!

…Kick Winter’s Ass Off The Radar!

Yes, I said ass. Sorry but I can’t help it, it’s the correct word for winter. Winter is being an ass right now and it needs to go away. Spring needs to giddy on up so I can take my daughter for stroller walks again and show her more trees, butterflies, clouds and nature! Speaking of nature, don’t you just love these?

Oooh, I really like the lemon yellow ones too!

Wouldn’t these be such an adorable way to tie up your bridesmaids’ gifts? You could also use these as both wedding favors and placecard holders. Hang ‘em from a tiny potted tree and you’ve got some love to give your guests! These adorable hearts are sold in most every color of the rainbow, to easily coordinate with your wedding colors. Need some? Grab ‘em over at SewnNatural on Etsy. Love! ;)

With Denise, of Bellis Studios!

Hello everyone! This is Denise, from Bellis Studios. Jaime has invited me to do a few guest posts on one of my favorite things, color. To kick things off, I picked Pantone’s 2011 color of the year: Honeysuckle (Pantone 18-2120). It’s a bright pink, with lots of red in it.

Admittedly, I was a little surprised by it at first. Why would Pantone pick such a bright color? According to Pantone, “Energizing honeysuckle lifts spirits and imparts confidence to meet life’s ongoing challenges.” If you think about it, it really makes sense. This recession has been going on forever and we’re all ready for some spirit lifting!

I teamed honeysuckle up with an equally confident color, snapdragon (Pantone 14-0827). I think they play quite nicely together!

You can read more about Pantone’s 2011 color of the year here.

If you like the dresses shown in my inspiration board, you can find them at The Dessy Group. They carry all sorts of styles in Pantone colors like honeysuckle and snapdragon.

After working with this gorgeous color, I had to design an invitation using it. A touch of snapdragon yellow and soft natural green accents. Perfect for a spring or summer wedding! If you’re interested in this design, let me know and I’ll make up some comps. You can find me over at Bellis Studios.

Thank you Jaime for allowing me to guest post. I’ll be back next Friday with more color inspiration!

DIY Gift Tag Garland

By Denise | Filed in Gift Ideas, Home Decor, Weddings

…An Easy Decor Idea For Your Big Day!

Just imagine…whimsical tags hung delicately with string, dancing and twirling above you as you sip your champagne. I wonder, could you find a way to turn these gift tag displays into lovely garland to hang? I bet you could!

(Photo credits: Purple gift tags from LCBPaper on Etsy)

Buy or make your own tags and attach them with string in the length you prefer. Use paper clips to hang your tags from string hung from the ceiling. Use your new garland to pretty up a doorway, a wall or even tree branches!

Maybe even create a mobile-type fixture to hang above your tables using tags. Not a fan of the paper clip? Try these stylish pegs to hang your garland, or paint your own…

How would you decorate with tags? Do share!

…He’ll Love It.

Okay ladies, what’s fair is fair! When it comes to your home, sharing is caring and that includes space for your man. After all, you know you’re going to take over that closet (if you haven’t already). Get your groom the gift of room and a sign that points to it. He’ll love it. We think… ;)

What is a “man cave, you ask? Here’s the man cave definition at this Etsy shop:

MAN CAVE – A room, space, corner or area of a dwelling that is specifically reserved for a male person to be in a solitary condition, away from the rest of the household in order to work, play, involve himself in certain hobbies, activities without interuption. This area is usually decorated by the male that uses it without interferance from any female influence.ManCaveSigns on Etsy

While you’re at it, why not get him some man cave gear to go with this charming little space? Uh oh. What’s wrong ladies, feeling left out? Buy yourself some sexy cave woman lingerie for your happily ever after, then later hang in YOUR closet. ;) Love!
